30/06/17 - RV Homebase Tinana - Crocodile Wheelers Get Together

The Crocodile Wheelers, a Chapter of the CMCA (Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia), were having a get together on the property of one of their members' (Greg and Donna) property south of Maryborough at Magnolia.

This was to attend the Mary Poppins Festival in Maryborough and we attended their get together, the first time we have attended one of these Chapter meetings.

One of the traditional games played at these CMCA gatherings is disk bowls, which can get very competitive!

We were made very welcome by the group, they even presented Jo with a birthday cake and sang happy birthday! A very nice touch, making it a special birthday for Jo.

28/06/16 - Maryborough Showground - RV Homebase Tinana

After 2 days at the Maryborough Showground we moved to RV Homebase for another look at what is on offer here. We have made up our mind that the lifestyle is not really for us, nor do we see that it stacks up economically.

Whilst we were here we went for a drive to find the location of our next camp, a meeting of the CMCA Crocodile Wheelers.

On our way we crossed Tinana Creek at the ford below the weir where quite a bit of water was spilling over creating quite a bit of foam. One wonders what is in the water?

On the side of the weir is a fish ladder where fish can work their way down the river.

26/06/16 - Beerwah - Maryborough Showground

Moved to Maryborough on the Fraser Coast, an interesting historic old town on the Mary River the place where most of the gold miners in the 1840s first set foot in Queensland.

We camped for 2 days at the Showground, all that is allowed, after which it was closed to camping because of a big horse riding event.

23/06/16 - Beerwah-Mooloolaba-Maroochydore-Beerwah Qld

Went for a drive to the coast visiting Mooloolaba and Maroochydore. Hard to tell where one finishes and the other one starts. Most of these seaside tourist towns look the same and seem to have the same impersonal feel to them, probably because there are so many temporary (tourist) residents. Lots of high rise apartment buildings, restaurants and coffee shops. Actually found a shop selling only men's shirts having a sale and bought 2 nice shirts there.

Went for a walk on the beach and spotted these interesting patterns, there was some small creature that dashed in and out of a small hole in the sand and it appeared to be making these patterns.

There is a memorial to the people that died in a plane crash on this beach in December 1950.

21/06/16 - Lawnton - Beerwah Qld

After a week at Pine Rivers Showground we moved on. Big trip today, 55km to Beerwah Sportsground.

Beerwah is quite a nice little town in the Glass House Mountains area, close to Landsborough.

Spotted this interesting bit of street art, quite a contraption.

Had dinner in the Landsborough pub, finished off with a scrumptious Pavlova dessert.

19/06/16 - Lawnton Qld

Saturday morning there is a market in the Showground and on the Sunday there was a truck Show and Shine. Not too much "shine" as it was raining, at times quite heavily.

Had a quick walk around and took some photos.

One truck stood out, quite a lot of polished SS on this one.

Bit of promotion for the heavy transport industry as well.

Not too sure about that 80% claim though! Probably based on the fact that the truckie reckons the car shouldn't have been on the road in the first place!

One of the 5th wheeler owners took the opportunity to advertise his rig for sale. All the comforts of home here.

17/06/16 - Lawnton Qld

Quite a big group of CMCA (Campervan and Motorhome Club Australia) members turned up and formed a very orderly line up on the oval.

As well as these there were quite a few caravans, motorhomes and 5th wheelers camped here.

14/06/16 - Canungra - Lawnton Qld

Quiet day, moved 100km north to Pine Rivers Showground at Lawnton and had a quiet day, rained on and off but otherwise mild weather.

Will probably be here for a few days.

13/06/16 - North Tamborine Qld

Caught up with our son Michael who was here from Adelaide visiting his friend Nathan who lives in North Tamborine.

Michael cooked us all a great Thai Red Curry dish and did an excellent job of presenting it as well. Yum.

12/06/16 - North Tamborine Qld

After an abortive trip to the Tamborine Markets, only to find out they are only on the 1st Sunday of the month, we wound our way up Tamborine Mountain and visited the North Tamborine Markets which are on the 2nd Sunday of the month. Not much of interest, the usual arty crafty stuff and over priced yuppie food, but we did have a very nice German Brattwurst  "hot dog".

Had a look at a couple of garage sales, then stopped at the site for hang glider launching where the view was great.

There were a few Chinese ladies trying to get the perfect jump shot.

An interesting bit of stone carving on display here as well.

Enjoying the view.
