31/05/15 - Dayboro - Qld

Bit of an adventure day. We intended going to Bribie Island but instead of turning right at the first roundabout I turned left! By the time I realised my mistake we were driving past an interesting looking market at Old Petrie Town so decided to stop and investigate.

This Old Petrie Town consists of various old buildings from throughout the area that been transported here, it is certainly an interesting place to wander around. A market is held here every Sunday and most of the old buildings are used by various vendors. This old church is now in use by a hairdresser and Jo decided that after being on the road for some time she needed a haircut. Much to her surprise the lady only charged $10 and Jo was suitably impressed with her haircut, so bargain! (She pays $25 at home)

After spending some here and having lunch etc it was really too late to turn back and go to Bribie Island, so we decided to continue on this road, which took us past the North Pine Dam.

Quite a body of water, it never ceases to amaze me how much water there is in Queensland compared to Victoria.

So we pressed on and came to a place called Dayboro, which as it turns out holds a festival one day a year and we picked that day to arrive here!
People and cars everywhere and after finding a place to park we joined in the fun.

So much for gender equality!

Our daughter Sandra is heavily in to quilting ao this sign caught our eye.

After a very interesting day we retraced our route back to Lawnton Showgrounds, Bribie will have to wait for another day.
